The main objective of the "Malawi-Germany Neurosurgery Project" is the implementation of training, teaching, practical and therapeutic management in neurosurgical health care in Malawi. Further objectives are to increase the number of treatments, diversify the range of treatments and improve the quality of treatment in all professional groups involved in the treatment. Methods to achieve these goals are the transfer of knowledge, practical and theoretical training for qualification and competence acquisition, networking and cultural exchange.
A first successful financing of this project was the program “Klinikpartnerschaften” of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project was launched in February 2020 with a first visit of the project team (Thomas Kapapa, Kerstin Knoll, Nicole Weber, Florian Pfinder, Tanja Hermann and Natascha Eirich) of the University Hospital Ulm at the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre, Malawi.
